Normally somebody would say at this point “oh but he’s a billionaire, why does he need donations” but I’ve seen the same old pattern over and over again so I already know what’s happening: The super rich have most of their wealth in illiquid assets, so they can’t cash out without paying taxes on it. So they borrow money and solicit donations from everyone else from banks to random strangers on the internet who are dumb enough to give them free money.

Once again, history repeats itself.
